SANTA CLARA, Calif. May 13, 2016 — Palo Alto Networks® (NYSE: PANW), the next-generation security company, today announced that Warren Rogers Associates, an industry leader in retail fuel monitoring and diagnostics, has successfully deployed the Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Security Platform in AWS to prevent successful cyber breaches within its cloud-based data center and ensure PCI compliance for thousands of remote data collection devices at fueling stations across the United States.

Warren Rogers monitors and analyzes fuel consumption data in order to provide its customers with real-time alerts to potential hazards or product losses. This data is also used to optimize ongoing business operations for fueling stations across the U.S. The company relies on data collection devices installed at its customers' service stations to collect information from every gas dispenser, tank and line at the station. This information is then transmitted back to its data center hosted in the Amazon® Web Services (AWS) cloud. Because these devices may reside on the same local network as the stations' payment processing systems, Warren Rogers needs to ensure PCI compliance.

By deploying the Palo Alto Networks VM-Series next-generation firewall and GlobalProtect™ on AWS, Warren Rogers has segmented its network to ensure their traffic is kept separate from their customers’ credit card traffic, effectively creating a PCI compliant environment. The virtualized firewalls are deployed across multiple regions in AWS to provide disaster resilience while simplifying day-to-day administration and onboarding of new customers as the business expands.

QUOTES

  • "Palo Alto Networks was the only network security vendor we found that had a platform designed for the cloud. It's ideal since we can take advantage of AWS's redundancy to ensure high availability of our virtualized firewalls and GlobalProtect gateways. It makes it easy for us to scale our security platform as we continue to bring on new customers and business ventures." – Matthew McLimans, computer engineer, Warren Rogers Associates

Warren Rogers has deployed Palo Alto Networks VM-300 virtualized next-generation firewalls with the Threat Prevention subscription service enabled in multiple AWS cloud regional sites. Each of these virtualized firewalls is configured with GlobalProtect to provide a secure gateway for traffic coming from each service station. Warren Rogers has also installed GlobalProtect clients on thousands of its remote data collection devices. With the Palo Alto Networks security platform, Warren Rogers has strengthened its cybersecurity posture, customer confidence and loyalty, while elevating its reputation as a leader in the industry.
